Position Overview: The Senior Network Engineer will provide client consultation to support the design and implementation of security components of clients’ networks for a variety of federal and commercial Information Technology (IT) projects. Reporting directly to the Director of Professional Services, the Senior Network Engineer will have advanced familiarity with routing including BGP & VxLAN, switching, and security technologies. The incumbent must have the ability to make technical decisions on all project tasks and interface with all levels of client teams.

Location: McLean, VA or Bethesda, MD (Full-time, Onsite)

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct/lead design workshops for complex designs to meet client’s business and technical objectives.
  • Serve as technical point of contact on customer engagements.
  • Proactively develop comprehensive strategies and initiatives to preemptively mitigate potential challenges.
  • Nurture and cultivate enduring client connections via diverse electronic mediums, fostering ongoing rapport and engagement.
  • Present solutions to technology issues and problems in user-friendly language.
  • Provide clear communication with customers to ensure resolution of all outstanding issues.
  • Regularly interface with technical and business staff of clients, including the project sponsor and stakeholders of projects in more complex engagements.
  • Identify and communicate potential opportunities for cross-selling to the sales team.
  • Efficiently handle time and expense budgets while consistently meeting or surpassing expectations as defined in the Statement of Work.
  • Provide high quality content deliverables using the appropriate document templates.
  • Assist in project management working alongside the Project Manager and clients to manage expectations and timelines to ensure expectations and commitments are being met.
  • Educate the client on solutions as appropriate throughout the life of the project.
  • Perform remote troubleshooting through proven diagnostic techniques.
  • Analyze and resolve network performance, connectivity, and related issues.
  • Manage and perform equipment builds, deploy patches & upgrades.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation for internal knowledge base
  • Actively work to identify and solve repeat issues, improving on existing services or processes where necessary.
  • Exhibit expert proficiency in problem management through root cause analysis and resolution.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of network engineering, implementation, support / troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in network design and implementation in medium to large environments.
  • Manufacturer certifications such as CCIE, CCNP, PCNSE, VCAP, CISSP preferred.
  • Experience with designing and implementing VxLAN preferred.
  • Knowledge of ITIL processes.
  • Strong understanding of change management, testing requirements, techniques, and tools to ensure high availability of platforms.
  • Prior experience working in a consulting environment preferred.
  • High proficiency in Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences including executives, business stakeholders, and IT teams.
  • Ability to work during non-business hours as needed.
  • Ability to travel on a limited basis, as required to support assigned projects/initiatives.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details with the ability to multi-task required.
  • Willingness to perform other duties as assigned that may extend beyond the scope of the primary job description.
